Car park investment will enhance appeal of flagship development

Major improvements to a car park in Hull city centre are adding to the appeal of the area, and particularly among commercial and residential parties viewing a £6 million flagship development being marketed by Garness Jones.

Paul White, Agency Director at Garness Jones, said the comprehensive refurbishment programme which is under way at King William House car park will bring safety, security and convenience benefits for occupiers of the adjoining retail, leisure and residential development.

APCOA, which holds a long lease on the multi-storey car park site, is carrying out resurfacing, repainting and installation of energy-efficient LED lighting The company is also investing in new parking equipment, including the introduction of online payments, which will enable their customers to arrive and leave the car park more quickly. Along with improvements to security, the changes have enabled APCOA to open the car park, which has 630 spaces, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

APCOA will complete the works during 2019. That coincides with the timetable for tenants taking up opportunities in the King William House development, which is being transformed into a complex of 30 one and two-bedroom apartments over the first, second and third floors, and an arcade of nine retail and leisure units on the ground floor fronting Market Place.

Paul said: “The first show flat will be ready to view in February 2019 and the first apartments will be available for occupation in May. In total there will be 30 apartments, all with panoramic views of Hull Minster.

“We have seen interest in the rest of the development from residential and commercial operators who would be completely new to Hull and would make the development a real destination location.

“We expect them to be further encouraged by the investment from APCOA, which will provide high quality, safe parking for residents and businesses. Good parking options are a major asset for any development.”
