Developers deserve credit for forging ahead with Business Park to attract investment and jobs

Garness Jones is delighted to see one of the region’s most important new business developments forging ahead to ensure new investment and jobs are brought to East Yorkshire.

Developers Wykeland Group have reported continued progress at Melton West Business Park through lockdown, revealing it has recently gained planning consent for 230,000 sq ft of new business space on the 200 acres site.

The planning approvals give the go-ahead to the development of a 107,000 sq ft operational support building to accommodate more than 500 Humberside Police staff, a speculative 84,000 sq ft industrial development and a 40,000 sq ft office, distribution and warehouse centre for an as yet unidentified end user.

Wykeland Group managing director Dominic Gibbons told the Business Live website: said: “Our recent activity demonstrates our continuing commitment to investing in major projects of strategic importance to the region’s economy.

“We have always taken a long-term market view and that has not been affected by the recent economic shock caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We remain confident about the economy in Yorkshire and the Humber as we focus on existing and new growth opportunities. The projects we are currently delivering and those in the pipeline will make an important contribution to the region’s growth post Covid-19.”

Garness Jones are proud to be the agents acting on the site, for which more details can be found here.

Managing director David Garness said:  “We have focussed on helping businesses to stay on the front foot throughout these recent tough times and with that in mind it is really pleasing to see the excellent progress being made on Melton West.

“I completely agree with Dominic Gibbons in that we must adopt a long-term market view and have confidence that the local economy will remain strong.

“We need to create new opportunities for growth, investment and employment and this development will be key in doing just that.”

Melton West already has more than 800,000 sq ft of manufacturing, warehouse and office space occupied, with leading companies on site including Kohler Mira, Heron Foods, Needlers and Allam Marine.
