Surveyor Chris Hyam says he is excited by the challenge of joining Garness Jones’ and is looking forward to working with their clients and his new colleagues.
Settling into the role after a few weeks at his desk and out visiting sites, Chris brings more than 10 years’ experience in the commercial property sector, having previously been responsible for managing a large number of local authority owned retail premises.
“It is exciting to be joining the Garness Jones team as they are a known market leader in commercial property across the Humber region and they have an extensive portfolio of work in the industrial market.
“It is also an exciting time generally across the commercial sector in the region as we have seen great progress in recent years and a lot of inward investment from major businesses as the reputation of the area has been enhanced
“It has been a challenge but also exciting switch from working in the public sector to the private sector. There are many clear synergies with the work I’ve been doing in my previous role as it is all about promoting the region, our properties, business opportunities and ultimately providing the best service possible to our clients.
“Obviously the first few weeks in the job have been all about assessing the industrial portfolio the business currently has and considering how I can best support our clients and my colleagues.
“I have seen in recent years that our region has increased pulling power in terms of attracting new business, but we also have many businesses which have been established in this region which are growing and in need of new premises to support that growth, so we have a crucial role to play for them too.”
Dave Garness, managing director of Garness Jones, says Chris joins at a time when the business is seeing unprecedented demand for its properties, and as it has increased its work on supporting new major industrial and mixed use developments, including the Humber Gate industrial park in Grimsby and Melton West Business park in East Yorkshire.
“We’re delighted to have Chris on board at a time when we have a number of exciting opportunities for industrial customers. The Humber region has plenty to offer the industrial sector and that is something Chris will be focussed on in his role.”
